I struggled with acne for many years. The problem is I never paid attention to what my skin was trying to tell me.
Once I turned 22 I started getting BAD acne. I’ve always struggled with a hormonal imbalance. However I think it was more than one thing that was contributing to my acne. At the time I started breaking out, was around the time I started using LOTS of new products, I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle, I was working in nightclubs in Las Vegas and I was non-stop partying.
I didn’t have my priorities right and was heading down a bad path. The acne was just the cherry on top for me. It was so bad it covered my entire lower half of my face, my chest, shoulders and arms. It was bad to the point I would lock myself in the my apartment because I was afraid people would see me. I stopped seeing my friends, stopped dating and stopped going into work. I felt worthless, ugly, lost and beyond insecure.
At the time I thought what I was going through was a bad thing however it was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. It changed my life and led me here where I am today. It put me on the path to pursuing my dreams to help others who are going through what I did. Struggling with acne made me see life differently. If you are struggling with acne, I want you to know you are not alone. And although it feels like it will never go away, I want you to know it will pass and it will go away.
Okay, so the greatest thing about having acne is it’s your body’s way of telling you that something inside is not right.Sometimes it’s diet. I know you have had those times in the month that all you wanted to eat was chocolate or pizza. Then a few days or week later it shows up as proof you overindulged on your face. Yes, that is how your skin communicates. It tell you that something your doing just doesn’t align with what it needs. Sometimes a new product makes you break out or maybe that huge fight with you boyfriend/husband just puts a toll on you and makes you break out.
There are many reason you may be breaking out. Instead of trying to drown out what your skin is telling you by covering it with makeup or trying to scrub it off. Listen to it. Think about what you did differently around the time you started breaking out.. Ask yourself, “Am what I’m putting in mouth going to help or hurt my skin.” Is skipping that morning workout going to do my skin good? Is this product made with nourishing ingredients? When it comes to applying products, “Does your skin love it at first touch?” Am I being gentle enough with myself? There are many people who don’t get any warnings that their body is hurting on the inside, although acne feels ugly, it is really a beautiful gift. One that gives us the chance to fix what we can not see inside.♥
“I eat foods that nourish my skin from the inside out. I exercise daily so my soul, spirt and skin stays happy. And I only apply products my skin loves at first touch.”-Amanda_Skynn
